The BBVA International Open in Valencia kicks off its 11th edition with ten Spanish players in the draw and a new Fallas-themed trophy – BBVA Open Internacional de Valencia

The BBVA International Open in Valencia is about to kick off its 11th edition—the fifth consecutive one held at the Sporting Club de Tenis—which will take place from September 13 to 20.

The tournament—the only WTA-level event in the history of the Valencian Community—will award $115,000 in prize money and heads into its big week with the final draw set, a strong showing of Spanish tennis, and several new features that reinforce its Valencian identity and its commitment to the well-being of the athletes.

The tournament has confirmed the entry of players ranked in the world’s Top 100, such as top seed Oksana Selekhmeteva, as well as players who have held prominent positions in the world rankings, including France’s Clara Burel, Switzerland’s Rebeka Masarova, Italy’s Martina Trevisan, Slovenia’s Veronika Erjavec, and Poland’s Katarzyna Kawa.

In addition, the BBVA International Open in Valencia is once again strongly committed to Spanish women’s tennis. Among the Spanish players already registered are Marina Bassols, Andrea Lázaro, Valencia’s Leyre Romero, Guiomar Maristany, Ángela Fita, Irene Burillo, Ane Mintegi, and Ariana Geerlings, who strengthen the Spanish presence in the main draw and reaffirm the tournament’s commitment to developing local talent.

The 2026 edition also debuts a new official trophy, handcrafted by a Fallero Master and unveiled at the tournament’s presentation in the Crystal Hall of Valencia City Hall by tournament director Anabel Medina and Mayor María José Catalá. The piece depicts a fallera as the ultimate symbol of the city’s culture and reflects the competition’s deep roots in Valencia’s social heritage.

Sustainability will continue to be one of the main pillars of what was the first tournament to fully offset its carbon footprint, in line with the values of its title sponsor. Added to this this year is a commitment to the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence, which will play a prominent role in a panel discussion with experts during tournament week.
