The BBVA Open Internacional de Valencia, the only WTA tournament in the Comunitat Valenciana, has started its fourth day of competition with a diverse day both on and off court.
The day began with an exhibition of Blind Tennis by the IQL Sports Academy, located in Benidorm and specialized in training visually impaired people through sport.
In the afternoon, the sporting focus outside the competition was complemented by a conference of the Blanca Fernández Ochoa Foundation, where her sister Lola spoke about how to take care of the mental health of athletes once they finish their professional careers.
The day on center court consisted of five matches, two of them doubles, which opened and closed the tournament on Wednesday. The Jones-Pigossi pair beat Ito and Yashina 6-3, 6-0, while Kozyreva and Shymanovich closed the day against Carle and Leyre Romero.
Three singles clashes were played in between. In them, Sara Bejlek beat Carlota Martinez 6-3, 6-2, Vandewinkel beat Selekhmeteva 6-4, 6-4, Gao and Serban changed courts to see the former win 6-0, 6-2, something that Solana Sierra repeated against Ariana Geerlings with a double 6-1.
On the other side of the stands Chirico got rid of the number four seed, Maria Lourdes Carle with a double 6-4.
