The BBVA Open Internacional Valencia Tournament, thanks to Anabel Medina and Tennium, brings the best women’s tennis to the capital of the Turia from 4 to 12 June 2022 at the Sporting Club de Tenis, a trophy with prizes of up to $115,000 for its participants, making it the first WTA125 tournament in the history of the Valencian Community and one of the few to be held in Spain.
This new synergy, together with the support of BBVA as main sponsor, certifies the intention already presented in the 2021 edition of growing in a continuous but sustainable way and being able to bring together in the capital of the Turia some of the best players on the international circuit.
The main draw got underway today with a total of five matches on Centre Court, where some of the players in the Top 100 WTA have already made their debuts and are expected to fight for the final trophy.
Beforehand, Anabel Medina and Leyre Romero gave a talk on healthy habits to the more than 400 children who have come to the tournament and who have become part of Monday’s audience.
In the morning session, Wang played her role as favourite, defeating Bogdan in two sets, while Potapova suffered against Selekhmeteva and had to go to three sets and Grabher came through after a set and a half and the withdrawal of Mendez.
The evening session, which started at 19:00, saw the debut of the first two Spaniards in the main draw (Bolsova and Masarova), with the former losing in three sets.
Tickets for the event are still on sale at www.openinternacionalvalencia.com.
